You have two secret role cards ("influences"). On your turn, claim any ability — but other players can challenge you. Get caught bluffing and you lose a card. Lose both cards and you're out.

💡
If you have 10+ coins, you MUST Coup — no other action is allowed.
Challenges & Blocks
1
After someone declares a role action, any player can challenge.
2
If challenged and truthful: challenger loses an influence. You shuffle your card back and draw a new one.
3
If challenged and bluffing: you lose an influence and the action is cancelled.
4
Blocks work the same way — someone claims a blocking role, and the original actor can challenge the block.
Strategy Tips
💡
You don't need to have a role to claim it. Bluffing Duke for Tax is common because no one wants to risk losing an influence to challenge you. But once you're caught lying, you become a target. The safest play isn't always the best play.
